The Steelwedge Adaptive Analytic Engine incorporates all major statistical forecasting techniques in an automated manner. The engine also optimizes the combination of analytical techniques. These techniques first determine baseline (level), trend, seasonal patterns for each product. Then, the expert system engine incorporates 20 of the most relevant forecasting techniques including: demand filtering, time-series decomposition, adaptive smoothing, spectral analysis, Bayesian analysis, and regression. It incorporates Croston’s Method for managing intermittent demand and uniquely incorporates multiple regression analysis to identify patterns not explained with time series analytics. It then builds the forecast from “bottom-up” and then reconciles with “top-down” forecast via aggregate level adjustments, including the ability to incorporate qualitative inputs through graphical overrides of rolled up data.
